Award-winning Irish playwright Marina Carr returns to London with a ferocious two-hander. A musician and his rival, a younger woman, are having a long-awaited conversation. As they spit their mutual malice with precision they question the hatred that has fuelled their desire to outdo each other in pursuit of art. With echoes of King Lear, The Cordelia Dream promises to unpick the belief that a muse must be made of love.

This gripping new play is a razor-sharp dissection of a loving but shattering relationship.

Marina Carr’s plays include The Mai, which won Best New Play at the Dublin Theatre Festival. Her other work includes By the Bog of Cats with Holly Hunter in the West End and Woman and Scarecrow with Fiona Shaw at the Royal Court.

Gomez, who is perhaps best known for her role in the C4 comedy Green Wing, recently made her RSC debut as Kate in The Taming of the Shrew. David Hargreaves returned to the RSC this summer to play Baptista in The Taming of the Shrew following his performance as Gloucester in King Lear with Corin Redgrave.
